hapa kaka festival

It was a Wednesday and we were going to the Turanganui Schools Maori Culture Festival. As the whole of Nui syndicate walked on the stage at the in the Farmers Air Event Center at the A&P Showgrounds Gisborne. We didn't have heaps of nerves because it was the second year in a row we were at the festival.

Hunter sang his solo perfect. We sang Haramai a Paoa a bit fast.  Ka pioioi e was perfect probably the best song we sang and in Purea Nei the girls poi was good.  Let me tell you the haka was way too FAST.  I tried to slow down but I looked stupid because then I was out of time.  When we sang Wainui e and He Honore was awesome because we were all in time, we weren't fast and we had good volume.

I felt excited it was probably the last time I will get to be in a Kapa Haka festival again.  I liked being up on stage and enjoyed being in the front row of boys for the first time.  Wearing a piupiu was really cool - I felt like I was in character.  Overall, I really enjoyed the day out.
