This week we are doing some Matariki learning.
What I know about Matariki.
Matariki is on the 15 of June. Matariki celebrates the maori new year, the people ones that have passed on in the last year. It also celebrates the harvest food that the maori people have got in. So Matariki has multiple reasons to celebrate.
Last year we did some raps on matariki click on the link to go to the website raps.
The Matariki star cluster has millions of stars in it but you can only see nine of them with a telescope. They are only visible 5 days a year. There is a story behind matariki it is of seven sister that made made some boys like them but one boy found out what they were really doing and then banished the in to stars but still lets them shine 5 days a year(the 15 of july 2020).
In our class one of our (anyoning) priorities is doing a jigsaw with information about matariki. You have to walk around the class and find notes hidden but in plain view. Next you gotta put it together and it looks so cool.😱
